Is it me or does the industry seem so fascinated with what they can do that they forget to do what they should do?
Maybe it’s just my old gaming mentality, maybe it’s just me being old in general. Does it not seem as though the big-wigs sit around their fat offices in their fat suits saying “Ermergerd! We just doubled the polygon count for our latest game engine! Quick remake {such-and-such} and ship it without any QA and we’ll just patch it when we need to…”.
I love technological progress just as much as the next geek, but don’t drop storyline for a few extra pixels! Don’t throw Quality Assurance and Testing out the window to push your product out a few days earlier. Don’t tack-on multiplayer “Deathmatch” and “Team Deathmatch” to appease what you think your audience wants. Don’t crunch out sequels for the sake of having sequels.
BAH! I really needed to get that off my chest… I feel a bit better now, that will probably come back again though. (>^_^)>
